The Mount Newsletter for November 23, 2025

Join us for Church School at 9:30 AM

Worship at 10:45 AM

At Sixth Mount Zion, we don't just go to church, we are the church.

We have 100 people registered so far. If you are planning to participate, please register TODAY. We need to make assignments, so we need to know how many people we are sending out, what supplies we need to buy for each group, etc. If you know you want to participate, click the link to register or complete a paper form TODAY.

Pastor Nelson's God-given vision for November 30th remains: that we GO OUTSIDE of the church building to be the hands, feet, heart, and mouth of God in the earth. So, we ask that you joyfully accept what your assignment is, even if it wasn't your first choice.

Notes on Completing the Form:

  • Each adult must register separately.
  • Parents can list minor children who will be with them on the form in the designated section.
  • WAIVER OF LIABILITY: If you choose NO for any section of the waiver (except Photographic Release), you will NOT be assigned an outreach activity and we ask that you do not participate.

If you’re able to help us, we’ll be working to prepare for the Mount Market on the following days and times. If you can help during the day hours, just stop by. If you want to help in the evening, please email executiveminister@smzbc.org to let Rev. Butler know (she won't stay after dark if nobody else is coming).

  • Monday, November 24th from 10a-4p
  • Tuesday, November 25th from 10a-4p or 5p-8p
  • Parents from Carver will be picking up Thanksgiving groceries from 12-4p on that day.
  • Wednesday, November 26th from 10a-2p
  • Saturday, November 29th from 10a-2p

Each Friday, SMZBC Food Pantry serves as many people as we can. With the current economic situation, we are seeing an increase in those seeking assistance.

We are asking Mount Members to help by:

  1. Donating funds so that we can purchase meats and other perishable items from the food bank at 9 cents per pound
  2. Donating unexpired, nonperishable items
  3. Volunteering on Friday from 10:30a - 1:30p.

If you would like your loved one honored during the service, please submit their names and photo to webmaster@smzbc.org.

Preparing for 2026

As we plan for 2026, think about what God has for us in the future. How will the ministry you are a part of help Sixth Mount Zion become the hospitable, relational, biblically based, community focused, generous and worshipping church we aspire to be?

Included in the packet (Ministry Leaders: Click Link to Download the PDF File):

Enclosed in this packet are materials that ministry leaders should complete after answering these questions with the input of members of the ministries in which you serve. It is our hope that this will aid us so that we can all be ready to do ministry with excellence in 2026.

  • 2026 Church-wide events listing (dates unavailable for scheduling other events)
  • Use of Space & Equipment Request
  • Calendar Requests are approved on a first come, first served basis
  • Seriously consider how frequently your ministry needs to meet
  • 2026 Budget process instructions & forms
  • Deadline for submission to Budget Ministry: Sunday, November 23rd
  • 2025 Ministry Assessment / 2026 Ministry Leadership Listing
  • Deadline for submission to church office: Sunday, December 21st

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Need a Ride to Worship?

If you need transportation, please contact the church office (804-648-7511) by Friday at 12:00 PM. Let us know that you plan to attend worship every Sunday and you will stay on the list each week. It is your responsibility to let the church office know by Friday if you will NOT need a ride.
