Happy Father's Day, Dads...Sixth Mount Zion Salutes You!

June is Men's Health Month.

The SMZBC Men's Ministry is encouraging all Men of the Mount to live a safe, healthy lifestyle...
and wear BLUE on Father's Day!

Did you know...African Americans have the highest rates of colon cancer (also known as colorectal cancer). We face a 20 percent higher risk of developing colon cancer and a 45 percent higher mortality rate than any other race. Although this disease is the third cause of cancer-related deaths in the Black community, it’s highly preventable. (See more info at BlackDoctor.org)

The Sisters of Sixth Book Club is back for another powerful season of story, sisterhood, and spiritual reflection! In past years, we’ve drawn strength from memoirs like Finding Me by Viola Davis and Just As I Am by Cicely Tyson, and we’ve poured into ourselves with self-care resources like Sisterhood Heals and Set Boundaries, Find Peace. Now, we’re diving into an emotionally layered novel that speaks directly to the heart of Black womanhood.

This summer, we’re reading Grown Women by Sarai Johnson—a moving story about four generations of Black women navigating love, trauma, motherhood, and the complicated legacy of silence. It’s a celebration of what we carry, what we confront, and what we become when we choose healing over hiding.

Whether you’re new to our book club or returning for another round, there’s a space just for you. Get ready to laugh, cry, reflect, and rise with other women who are walking through their own journeys of becoming.

📖 Sessions begin July 2nd

🕖 Wednesdays at 6:30 PM

📍 Location TBD: Virtual or In-Person?

Let us know you plan to join us by clicking here to register today!

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Need a Ride to Worship?

If you need transportation, please contact the church office (804-648-7511) by Friday at 12:00 PM. Let us know that you plan to attend worship every Sunday and you will stay on the list each week. It is your responsibility to let the church office know by Friday if you will NOT need a ride.
