The Mount Newsletter for May 7, 2025

New Bible Study - Starts TODAY at 12p and 6:30p

Mount Members and Friends are encouraged to join us for a powerful Bible Study series based on a transformative book that was written 50 years ago, but is still very relevant! Let's talk about what we believe about God and what God expects of us. Purchasing the book is not required, but if you would like to own a copy so that you can do more extensive reading, click here.

Sunday is Mother's Day!

NO CHURCH SCHOOL this week

Sleep in or have breakfast in bed, then meet us at The Mount for morning worship with Pastor Nelson preaching and communion.

Pastor Nelson has asked all Mount Members to stay after  the benediction for an announcement.

Happy Birthday, May Babies!

Mount Members born in May

are encouraged to attend the

Tribe of Manasseh Mini-Birthday Party

after worship on Sunday, May 24th.

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Need a Ride to Worship?

If you need transportation, please contact the church office (804-648-7511) by Friday at 12:00 PM. Let us know that you plan to attend worship every Sunday and you will stay on the list each week. It is your responsibility to let the church office know by Friday if you will NOT need a ride.

This year, our Memorial Service is being held on December 21st. What you may not know is that because it is the Winter Solstice (the longest night), the date is often the setting for "Blue Christmas" or "Longest Night" services in Christian traditions, offering a space for those grieving or feeling lonely during the holidays to find comfort, hope, and recognition for their pain, acknowledging that Christmas isn't joyful for everyone, focusing on the promise of light in darkness. So, even if you do not have a member on this year's Memorial Roll Call, but are grieving someone or something no longer with you, you are invited to come on over to the afternoon service to be in virtual community with others because you are not alone! We'll be live on Facebook, YouTube, and DialPad Meetings (audio only).

We need 35 members to make a quorum. Join the virtual meeting to find out how your money funds our ministries!
