Thank you for joining us on this part of the journey. This year’s Illustrated Sermon is based on the Gospel of Matthew, so we think it is appropriate for all of us to become acquainted with the people Jesus encountered and the places He traveled as He made His way to Calvary.

We don’t want you to just read the Gospel of Matthew. We want you to experience it in a new and different way. We encourage you to:

  • Use a Bible translation that is easy for you to understand. Pastor Nelson prefers the Message Translation. Rev. Butler often reads The Passion Translation. But there are so many more. Check out BibleGateway.com or Bible.com to find the version that speaks to you.
  • Listen to the scripture passage. Sometimes, it helps to hear the words spoken as you read along. Other times, you may be on the go and want to listen while you drive. BibleGateway.com and Bible.com have audio versions of several Bible translations. In Bible Study, we often use audio of “The Bible Experience” which is a dramatized version of the TNIV (Today’s New International Version). Currently, you can buy the complete Bible version (over 85 hours!) for 1 Credit on Audible or $20.00 at Audiobooks.com. They also have just the New Testament.
