The Mount Newsletter for September 28, 2025

Order Your Copy of the 2025 No-vember Devotional "I've Got a Testimony!"

From 2022-2024, our Executive Minister, Rev. Dwylene Butler, wrote a devotional for our "No Complaints November" journey. For 30 days, Mount Members committed to give up complaining and replace it with an attitude of gratitude.

We are so excited that this year's devotional will feature 30 members sharing their testimonies. Each day will include:

  • Today’s Text (Scripture)
  • Testimony Time (Mount Member's Story)
  • Timeless Tune (Song of the Day)
  • Think On These Things (Short Reflection)
  • Time to Talk with God (Prayer Prompt)
  • Today’s Takeaway (A truth to carry with you)

Click Here to preorder the "I've Got a Testimony: 2025 No Complaints November Devotional"! Orders must be placed by October 5th.

SMZBC's Church School and Bible Study Return on Wednesday, October 1st and Sunday, October 5th! Our virtual Bible Study will be taking a deep dive into the Lord's Prayer. The Women's Church School Class will be focusing on prayer too, but in a more intimate, in-person setting.

Those who regularly attend Women's Church School and/or the Sisters of Sixth Mount Zion Summer Book Club can testify that we have a good time together and it helps to build community.

To buy the book we'll be using, click here to purchase: https://square.link/u/o0Hxg1se. If you buy it using our link, you can save $2.27 off the Amazon price...we're selling them for $10.00! (If you ordered your book before 10pm yesterday, it is ready for you to pick up after worship today!) You can also purchase in person after worship on Sunday...please have exact change!

Final Note: If you are unable to afford the book, but want to participate in Church School, please email me at executiveminister@smzbc.org and we will do what we can.

Our 158th Church Anniversary and Homecoming: The approved 2025 Church Budget has a goal of raising $15,800.00 for Church Anniversary and Homecoming. If you were unable to give on Sunday, there is still time!

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
