The Mount Newsletter for September 21, 2025

Do you know what today is?
It's Our 158th Church Anniversary & Homecoming!

Who have you invited? Call or Text Them as a Reminder!

Rev. Marvin Gilliam, Pastor of The Mount Carmel Baptist Church, will be our guest preacher.

For Members Only: The approved 2025 Church Budget has a goal of raising $15,800.00 for Church Anniversary and Homecoming. We need 100 Mount Members to commit to help us reach that goal.

For this year's  No Complaints November  devotional, we would like to feature (at least) 30 testimonies of Mount Members. What about you? If you have a testimony about God's goodness and blessings and are willing to share it with your church family, let us know by completing the form below.

If you already signed up, please click here to schedule a time to meet with Rev. Butler to record (audio only) your testimony. We must record THIS WEEK.

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.

Need a Ride to Worship?

If you need transportation, please contact the church office (804-648-7511) by Friday at 12:00 PM. Let us know that you plan to attend worship every Sunday and you will stay on the list each week. It is your responsibility to let the church office know by Friday if you will NOT need a ride.

This year, our Memorial Service is being held on December 21st. What you may not know is that because it is the Winter Solstice (the longest night), the date is often the setting for "Blue Christmas" or "Longest Night" services in Christian traditions, offering a space for those grieving or feeling lonely during the holidays to find comfort, hope, and recognition for their pain, acknowledging that Christmas isn't joyful for everyone, focusing on the promise of light in darkness. So, even if you do not have a member on this year's Memorial Roll Call, but are grieving someone or something no longer with you, you are invited to come on over to the afternoon service to be in virtual community with others because you are not alone! We'll be live on Facebook, YouTube, and DialPad Meetings (audio only).

We need 35 members to make a quorum. Join the virtual meeting to find out how your money funds our ministries!
