The Mount Newsletter for February 22, 2026

VERY IMPORTANT: The EASIEST way for you to stay connected is for you to give us permission for the DialPad meetings system to call you for the 7:00 AM Prayer Calls during Lent.

  • If you are already on the list to be called by DialPad Meetings or were on the Lenten Prayer Call list from last year, we added you to be called Monday-Saturday this year. If we currently call you on Tuesdays and Thursdays but you DO NOT want to be called every day during Lent, please email (webmaster@smzbc.org) or call (804-648-7511) so we can remove you from the list.
  • If you are NOT on the list to be called by DialPad Meetings but want to be, please email (webmaster@smzbc.org) or leave a message at 804-648-7511. Depending on how many responses, it may take a day or two to add you.

SCHEDULE CHANGE: We did not have worship on 1st Sunday in February, so we are baptizing those candidates on Sunday, March 1. Plan to be here at 9:45 AM to celebrate this significant spiritual milestone!

Our Women’s Weekend theme this year is Still in the Story: Say Her Name. Our focus scripture is Matthew 1, which lists Jesus' genealogy. There five women are intentionally named across forty-two generations. Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, the wife of Uriah, and Mary remind us that God’s redemptive story has always moved through women whose lives were complex, courageous, and often marginalized. At the same time, the genealogy points to at least 37 other women whose names were never recorded, yet whose faith, labor, and love carried the promise forward.

We pray that Still in the Story: Say Her Name honors both the women we can name, and the women history did not, affirming that even when unnamed or unseen, women have always been central to what God is doing in the world.

Register by March 8, 2026. NOTE: The Women's Weekend events are FREE. The form gives you an option to give your Women's Day Offering while registering. Payment is NOT required to register online. You can register online without providing your credit card information.

Lent begins TODAY. Each year, we prayerfully consider what we can sacrifice we can offer to God as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday. We present several options for members to consider. You may pick one sacrifice from one category or some choose to do one thing from each category. You DO NOT have to do it all, but we ask that you DO something. Seek God about what your Lenten journey should be.

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
