The Mount Newsletter for February 8, 2026

Membes who are able are asked to give an additional $10.00 (or more) above their Tithes & Offerings for Founders' Day. Our budget goal for Founder's Day is $2,000.00, so that means we need 200 members to contribute. Please note on your envelope or online gift if it is for Founder's Day.

The Whip, the Hammer, and the Cross Casting Call

On Saturday, April 4th, we will once again tell the old, old story in a new, refreshing way. We will embody the Gospel of Matthew with acting, singing, and dancing. There will be lots of drama and even a little bit of comedy as we share the story of Jesus' life, death and resurrection. We'd love to have you join us in the cast or crew. Each year, Rev. Butler tailors the script to the cast that signs up. So...we need you to let us know you are interested. Sisters of Sixth Mount Zion, we know you'll represent! We need at least 15 brothers in the cast and probably that many on the crew too.  Can we count on you? Rehearsals will begin February 22nd.  Please click the button to sign up today (the sooner the better...we need to write the script)!

Tuesday, February 17th

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18th. Each year, we prayerfully consider what we can sacrifice we can offer to God as we prepare for Resurrection Sunday. We present several options for members to consider. You may pick one sacrifice from one category or some choose to do one thing from each category. You DO NOT have to do it all, but we ask that you DO something. Seek God about what your Lenten journey should be.

In an effort to keep everyone safe during worship and ministry activities, our Trustees are asking all members and guests to help us maintain a secure environment. In this current climate, we must all do our part to stay vigilant and protect one another. Please remember the following important guidelines:

Be aware of your surroundings at all times while on church property. If you see something that doesn’t feel right, notify a Trustee or Staff Person immediately.

Do not prop open any exterior doors under any circumstances. All doors should remain closed and locked unless they are being actively monitored.

Arrive on Time for Worship: Arriving on time also helps us maintain a secure environment, as it reduces the need to open the exterior doors multiple times once worship has begun.

Exit the building promptly after worship and other events so that our Trustees can properly secure the church.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Sixth Mount Zion a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
